Cable 12, NWCT's local origination operation, begins accepting commercial advertising in March.

Cable 12 enters the digital age with the purchase of Panasonic's PostBox nonlinear edit system in April and DVCpro in December.

Cable 12's "Community Journal" debuts April 3.

Cable 12 receives an award from Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine for having the Best Local "Local" Newscast.

"Cable 12 News" receives a national Hometown Award for Best Newscast on July 18.

US West Telephone Company acquires Continental Cablevision. US West must divest of Northwest Cable System within 18 months due to federal legislation.

Northwest Cable Commission and NWCT Board approve a three year equipment upgrade plan for digital production equipment and other support equipment.

Northwest Cable Commission leases space to US West for cellular telephone tower.

Cable 12 begins a live morning news program, "Cable 12 Mornings", October 1.

Four editing rooms are added in November.

Construction begins on a storage structure for the NWCT building. This is the first major modification to the building since it was constructed in 1986. Excavation begins December 2.

2317 programs are produced.
