What is Northwest Community Television (NWCT)?
Northwest Community Television is a nonprofit organization that operates a public access television production facility for use by community residents and organizations in Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal, Golden Valley, Maple Grove, New Hope, Osseo, Plymouth and Robbinsdale.

NWCT also manages a local origination (L.O.) operation, Channel 12, and assists nine area cities in producing their city council meetings.

Is NWCT the same as Channel 12?
No. NWCT is charged with providing public access to area residents and organizations for the production of noncommercial programming.

Channel 12, a service of NWCT, provides professionally produced local news, sports and special events coverage for cable subscribers in the northwest suburbs and accepts advertising.

What is public access?
In this country, public access is defined as that segment of PEG (Public–Educational–Governmental) Access where citizens have access to cable television channel(s) for individual expression of ideas as protected by the First Amendment.

Or, as those in access circles commonly answer, "TV by the people, for the people!"

When were we established?
Northwest Community Television, officially known as NWSCAC, or Northwest Suburbs Community Access Corporation, was formed July 26, 1982.

Who oversees our operation?
A board of directors appointed by the cable commission oversees the operation and meets monthly. The board is made up of representatives from the cities we serve and public access producers.

How are we funded?
We're funded by franchise fees paid by the cable company to Northwest Community Television and by a community television fee charged to cable subscribers on their monthly bills.

What is our annual budget?
The NWCT/Channel 12 operating budget is approximately 3 million dollars.

Where are we located?
NWCT is located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

How many cable subscribers are there in the northwest suburbs?
There are 75,000 Comcast subscribers.

Is NWCT the cable company?
No, NWCT is not the cable company. We do provide programming for five channels on the cable system.

The cable company in this area is Comcast. Their customer service number is 651.222.3333.
